I created this sculpture based on a a myth told by tribes located on the east side of Puget Sound. The myth explains how the animal people chose which direction the rivers flowed. All of the animal people were in agreeance that the rivers should all flow both ways, making it easier for people in the future to travel. Eagle disagreed with the rest of the animal people, saying that travelling and fishing would become too easy, and people would not understand the value of fish anymore. I created this piece to symbolize the rivers that would flow in all directions. I started by hand-building the base shape, and then hand cut and placed each individual tile. Once bisque fired I airbrushed the sculpture with glaze to give it a water-like finish.
